William & Mary Women's Weekend preview

women-week.jpgWilliam & Mary Women: strong individually, stronger together. On September 21-23, 2018, alumnae of all ages will gather for William & Mary Women's Weekend to learn from and be inspired by each other. The weekend is part of the university's year-long commemoration of the 100th anniversary of coeducation.

Panel discussions, keynote speakers, receptions and activities throughout the weekend will focus on wellness in all aspects of life: physical, mental, emotional, financial, intellectual and more. Program highlights include Mary Talks — short talks on big ideas from W&M women — and more than a dozen session options including "The Competitive Advantage — What Women Bring to the Table," "How Women Physicians are Changing Healthcare" and "Flourishing in a Relentless World."

Actor, playwright and author Anna Deavere Smith will open the weekend with "Snapshots: Portraits of a World in Transition," her groundbreaking solo show that combines theater and journalism. Keynotes will be provided by alumnae Ellen Stofan ’83, D.Sc. ’16, P ’10, P ’14, the first woman director of the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum; Kathryn Carter ’91, former president of Soccer United Marketing; and E. Clorisa Phillips ’77, an expert in higher education accreditation and former private college president.
