Vice President for University Advancement

The vice president for University Advancement oversees all William & Mary efforts related to alumni engagement, private fundraising and philanthropic outreach, marketing, and alumni and donor communications. This includes working closely with the president, provost, vice presidents, deans and other campus leaders to determine fundraising priorities and to create a lasting, robust culture of engagement and philanthropy for the greater William & Mary community. The vice president also serves as the assistant secretary to the William & Mary Foundation.

Associate Vice President for Development

The associate vice president for development is responsible for oversight and management of central advancement fundraising programs. In coordination with the provost, vice presidents, vice provosts and deans, the position also provides guidance to advancement constituent programs across the university. Associate Vice President for Development and Campaign Director

The associate vice president for development and campaign director is responsible for campaign strategy, planning, operations and execution. The position also oversees several key, pan-university central development functions. Areas that report to this position include:

Associate Vice President for Advancement Services

The associate vice president for advancement services is responsible for the leadership, administration and management of the central business operations for University Advancement. The position is responsible for overseeing University Advancement’s budget and risk/emergency/security protocols. The position also manages relationships with key partners across the university such as the Offices of Finance and Administration, Human Resources and Information Technology. Associate Vice President for University Marketing and Advancement Communications (UMAC)

The associate vice president for university marketing and advancement communication is responsible for developing innovative messaging and designing high-quality events to support William & Mary’s mission and to promote its national image. The position also coordinates and leads strategic initiatives identified by the vice president with specific emphasis on projects that connect funding priorities, principal prospect management, engagement initiatives, and strategic communications and events with broader university goals. Associate Vice President for Alumni Engagement & Executive Director of the William & Mary Alumni Association

The associate vice president for alumni engagement & executive director of the William & Mary Alumni Association is the leader of the university’s overall alumni engagement efforts and ensures that all alumni of William & Mary are engaged, involved, represented and encouraged to be active with, informed about, and supportive of the activities of the university. The position is responsible for strengthening the lifelong ties our alumni have to alma mater and to one another, and oversees all alumni-related university initiatives. This position is a member of the president’s cabinet. Areas that report to this position include:

Associate Vice President for Lifetime Philanthropic Engagement & Annual Giving

The associate vice president for lifetime philanthropic engagement & annual giving provides strategic direction for annual giving throughout the university. The team is responsible for direct marketing solicitation efforts for the Fund for William & Mary and other impact funds that provide sources of unrestricted money to be used for the university’s most pressing needs. Class giving is a significant portion of the team’s focus, which includes management of nearly 1,000 volunteers and class ambassadors working toward increasing alumni participation rates to best in the nation. Another area of emphasis is student philanthropy. Additional programming and volunteer management is provided for class reunions (5th through 50th) as well as university and school/unit-based initiatives. Areas that report to this position include:
