A scholarship brought Ukraine-born student to William & Mary
Ukraine-born Vitaliy Humenyuk ’17 became a U.S. citizen while attending William & Mary as a double major in European and German Studies. In the spring For the Bold e-newsletter, Campaign Chair Sue Hanna Gerdelman ’76 shares Humenyuk’s story as an example of how scholarships make a significant difference every day at William & Mary.
According to Gerdelman, Humenyuk said that his scholarship has impacted his life immeasurably and that the university has given him a strong sense of belonging to this country. He also credits his citizenship and the education he has received at W&M as reasons why he has even greater opportunities to give back to the university, the community and the nation.
