A day to remember

Fifteen years ago today, our nation faced one of the most painful moments in its history - the 9/11 terrorist attacks resulted in nearly 3,000 innocent people losing their lives, including seven William & Mary alumni known to have been killed in the World Trade Center.

To honor those who had fallen on that day, the William & Mary community - united in purpose - held at least three services of remembrance. Students, faculty and staff organized blood drives and other efforts to help the injured, first responders and grieving families.

The university also dedicated its winter 2001 William & Mary Alumni Magazine issue to those alumni who lost their lives.

With today's anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, The Gale is looking back to this issue so that the Tribe community can once again remember and honor those who were taken from us. Never forget.
