    • Out-of-State: $1,000,000 Endowment
    • In-State: $500,000 Endowment
    • Minimum Endowment: $100,000 Endowment
    • Annual Scholarship: $10,000 Expendable
  • Undergraduate Merit
    • 1693 Scholar (Out-of-State)**: $1,500,000 Endowment
    • 1693 Scholar (In-State)**: $1,000,000 Endowment
    • William & Mary Scholar**: $500,000 Endowment
    • Monroe Scholar**: $100,000 Endowment
    • Minimum Endowment: $100,000 Endowment
    • Annual Scholarship: $10,000 Expendable
  • Undergraduate Other
    • Athletics (Out-of-State): $1,000,000 Endowment
    • Athletics (In-State): $500,000 Endowment
    • Minimum Endowment: $100,000 Endowment
    • Global – Study Abroad: $100,000 Endowment
    • Global – International Students: $100,000 Endowment
    • Global – Annual Scholarship: $10,000 Expendable
  • Graduate
    • Scholarship/Fellowship/Assistantship: $1,000,000 Endowment
    • Stipend: $500,000 Endowment
    • Minimum Endowment*: $100,000 Endowment
    • Annual Scholarship: $10,000 Expendable

*Endowment minimums may vary depending on the graduate program.
**Preferences for these endowments are limited to the scholarship program designation. 

Please note that unrestricted, need-based scholarships are the university’s highest priority, but donors may request preferences from the following categories, depending on the giving level: 

  • Choice of School
  • Choice of Major
  • Choice of Geographic Location within the United States (Region, State, Counties)
  • Choice of Scholarship Program (1693, Monroe, William & Mary Scholars, etc.)
  • Choice of Athletics (General or Varsity Sport) or Global (Study Abroad or International)


$1,000,000+ Scholarship Type + up to 3 preferences
$500,000 - $999,999 Scholarship Type + up to 2 preferences
$100,000 - $499,999 Scholarship Type + 1 preference
